Moksha Dharma

When Bheeshma lay on the bed of arrows awaiting an auspicious time to give up his body, Krishna led the Pandavas to him.

Bheeshma, through Yudhishtira and the Pandavas, taught dharma to the entire mankind. After the initial ‘Raja dharma’ focussed mainly on the material realm, Bheeshma spoke about the ephemeral nature of life and its true meaning, driving home many points through stories.

This is collectively called ‘Moksha dharma’ and is a significant upa-parva found in the Shanti Parva of the Mahabhaaratha.

The stories related by Bheeshmaachaarya are easy enough for a child to understand yet too complex for even learned scholars to comprehend fully.

In this series, you will also find additional nuggets pertaining to what moksha is, the types of moksha etc.

For a quick re-cap, we begin with a nugget from the Bhaaratha.
